Campaign series shot
The request from Toyota was to give the overall series a feeling of lifestyle with a fashion aspect. They ran the series complete in magazines.
I shot this Toyota campaign on neg film and wanted a pristine look. Luckily I scouted an ultra modern fire station facing lake ontario. With no obstructions to reflect onto the car we were able to shoot the car as it stood.
The final film was beautifully and looked exactly as these images.
Queen of The Fish Heads (The Zena Twins) Nina and Nona
True and unbound it has healed mortal wounds with no more then a simple kiss and a true heart. Out of control it has plummeted men into war.
This series of photographs resulted from an impossible love between Poseidon, God of the sea and a mortal woman named Cleito. Together they had
five sets of twins, which is the beginning of The QUEEN of The FISH HEADS.
Queen of The Fish Heads (Brothers)
The boy with the sly look was the provocateur and his brother was gentle and sweet and slightly guarded. Their body shielding was made from photographing a fishing lure and then layering onto their skin.
Queen of The Fish Heads
Alexandrina… daughter of the light house keeper.
One of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the lighthouse of Alexandria would hold her best through thunderstorms to guide her ships home.
Queen of The Fish Heads (Ioana)
Iona wanted to be a fish creature and asked to be photographed. Her aunt Boriana was the make up artist for this image and added hair extensions to cover her body. I pointed the camera and with great excitement she dug into the floor with her nails… this was the very first frame we shot and my favorite moment captured in the series.
This is a Canister Light that I built out of an old snoot, desk lamp some tape+glue.
I pimped it out so that it runs off a battery and a 25 watt bulb. Attached below are some samples of images that I Light Painted over the years. Always forgiving to skin and somehow sexy, its definitely a technique worth trying. Im happy to post instructions if anyone’s interested. Cheers!
LIGHT PAINT (Collection)
I shot these images over the years… and still go back to this lighting technique for its painterly look. The results are striking and each image is unique, you can never replicate the same result twice!
ZOI (Light Painted) + (flash fill)
Image was shot on neg film using a Hasselblad camera, there is no photoshop added!
As I was painting Zoi I gently pushed her hair back and forth with my hand to create a blurred motion that you can see. A fan on the back silk helped create a soft finish on the background. Flash was used at the very end to flood the background and expose the silk.
NADA Campaign (Futuristic story of Girlbots and Repetition)
Looking at us is Francis… our futuristic model and intricate part of a repetition story for Nada Shepherd an absolutely daring and insightful designer.
